Cherries are one of my favourite summer time snacks. They’re sweet, yet tart and absolutely refreshing. On top of being a perfect accompaniment to desserts, cherries also contain incredible health benefits.
For starters, “the antioxidant activity […] in tart cherries [is] superior to that of vitamin E and comparable to commercially available antioxidant products.” Sweet cherries also contain “fibre, vitamin C, carotenoids, and anthocyanins, each of which may help play a role in cancer prevention.”
For my spoonies and fitfam, cherries contain anti-inflammatory properties, which helps with conditions such as arthritis, and may help reduce post-exercise muscle pain! They also assist with reducing excess inflammation, which will help you fall asleep and recuperate your energy.
Even though summer is coming to an end, does not mean we can give up on our goals to look our very best. Our bodies are the vessels that allow us to achieve our goals and dreams. If you’re working to reduce belly fat, or want to continue to keep it off – then cherries are your friends!
Should I add that cherries may lower your risk of heart disease?
